JACKSONVILLE, FL – Scheduled to give a motivational speech about turning self-sabotage into self-mastery at the How to Transform Your Life Summit, 42-year-old keynote speaker Dean Matthews, is having one of those days where he is just not in the mood for motivating people. Matthews stated, “I just want to spend the day at home vegging out on the couch, eating Pizza Rolls and watching TikTok videos.” To emphasize how much he is dreading speaking, he claimed, “I would rather have to do two prostate exams with different doctors back to back than go give this speech today.” Matthews reiterated, “I do enjoy motivating and inspiring people, but like, just not today… maybe some other time though.”
Matthews has traveled the country speaking at various conferences, panels, and corporate events, teaching people how to change their mindset and get out of their own way. Matthews is known for being the brains behind Nike’s “Just Do It” slogan, Obama’s “Yes We Can” and his TED Talk, “How to Put the I in Motivate.” His book “From Dread to Desire” is set to come out as soon as he gets the energy to finish it.
Matthews commented, “If I do go and speak, I know afterwards I’ll be glad I went and did, but man, I seriously just don’t want to do jack shit today.” At press time, Matthews said he was considering faking a family death to get out of presenting this afternoon or leaving the country and changing his identity.
